Camp Pendleton and Twentynine Palms Marines Killed in Afghanistan
Both Marines died in combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the Defense Department said.

A Camp Pendleton Marine was one of two Marines killed Wednesday while fighting in Afghanistan, according to a Department of Defense press release.
Staff Sgt. Nicholas Sprovtsoff, 28, of Davison, Mich., and Sgt. Christopher Diaz, 27, of Albuquerque, N.M., died while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province, the Defense Department said.
Sprovtsoff was assigned to the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command at Camp Pendleton. Diaz was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms.
