Camp Pendleton Marine Dies in Oceanside Motorcycle Crash

The collision that claimed the life of the 22-year-old Wildomar resident was reported at 4:15 p.m. Sunday. Breaking.

OCEANSIDE, CA — An active-duty Camp Pendleton Marine was killed in a collision while riding his motorcycle Sunday near the El Camino Country Club in Oceanside, authorities reported.

The crash that claimed the life of Najee Allen Williams, 22, of Wildomar, was reported at 4:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2700 block of Vista Way, near El Camino Real, according to reports from Lt. Matthew Cole of the Oceanside Police Department and officials with the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Oceanside police officers who responded to the scene found Williams lying in the roadway, suffering from significant injuries, with his damaged motorcycle nearby, Cole said.

An investigation revealed that Williams was traveling east on Vista Way when a Volkswagen Jetta failed to yield and turned left in front of him, toward the entrance to the Target shopping center, according to the ME's office.

Williams was unable to avoid colliding with the car.

Witnesses of the crash called 911, and Williams was rushed by paramedics to Tri-City Medical Center.

"Despite aggressive medical intervention, death was pronounced shortly upon arrival," the ME's office stated.
