A 22-year-old Camp Pendleton-based Marine died while fighting in Afghanistan's Helmand province, according to a Department of Defense press release.
Cpl. Michael Dutcher of Asheville, NC, died Thursday in combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the Defense Department said.
Dutcher was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.
