Here are the top stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

1. San Diego County Crime Log. Here's a look at the top police, fire and courtroom stories of the last week, including: "San Diego County Deputy Arrested, Accused Of Burglary, Drug Crimes; North County Man Jailed For Alleged Threat With Pellet Pistol; 3 Dead In Suspected Murder-Suicide In East County; Man Found Dead On North County Road; 1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Shooting Near Palomar College" and more local crime news. 2. The Union of Concerned Scientists believes San Onofre and other nuclear waste storage sites need to "beef up security". However, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Southern California Edison who used to operate the site say no extra security is needed. While the reactors were powered down and dismantled years ago the site still hosts high-level nuclear waste in dry storage. "Requiring more security was on the table in recent years, but staff now feels that the risks at waste storage sites are so low that costs would exceed the benefit." (The Press-Enterprise)
3. The founders of Oceanside-based, Zoe Guitars overcame tragedy through the inspiration to create heirloom-worthy custom acoustic guitars. For Shawn and Sally Weimer, it was about finding a new reason to live after the tragic death of their 12-year-old son Zach in 2008. "With each new guitar Weimer builds, the hours spent shaping, shaving, starting, stopping, and listening, the healing continues." (San Diego Magazine)
