Double Hit-And-Run Fatality: Man Hit By 2 Vehicles That Took Off

One vehicle possibly involved in the North County pedestrian's death was a silver Dodge Ram pickup, officials said.

VISTA, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday morning in a hit-and-run involving two vehicles at a Vista intersection.

Arriving deputies learned that a 60-year-old man had been struck by two vehicles -- both of which fled the scene -- shortly before 4:35 a.m. at the intersection of West Vista Way and Melrose Drive, San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Hernan Gonzalez said.

The man, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at a hospital, the sergeant said.

Investigators determined that the first vehicle that struck the pedestrian was a 2015 to 2019 silver Dodge Ram 1500 or 2500 pickup, Gonzalez said, adding that the truck likely has front-end damage.

Investigators were unable to determine an exact description of the second vehicle, which witnesses described only as a silver sedan, Lt. Dave Perkins said.
