E-Bike Rider Found With Critical Injuries In Oceanside Roadway

Authorities said it remains unclear whether any other individuals or vehicles were involved.

OCEANSIDE, CA — A critically injured man was found in the roadway early Wednesday in Oceanside, authorities said.

Officers on routine patrol found the man at 12:11 a.m near Coast Highway and Seagaze Drive, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Preliminary information indicates the 52-year-old man had been riding an electric bicycle when he suffered severe injuries, including significant trauma to his head and upper body.

Paramedics took the victim to Scripps La Jolla for emergency treatment, police said.

Due to the severity of the man's injuries, the department's Traffic Safety Unit took over the investigation. Authorities said it remains unclear whether any other individuals or vehicles were involved.
