3 Killed In I-5 Crash Near Camp Pendleton

OCEANSIDE, CA — Three people were killed in a fiery multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton, authorities said.

The collision happened around 3 a.m. Thursday on southbound I-5 near the Las Pulgas Road exit, according to the California Highway Patrol's incident log.

Camp Pendleton Fire Department responded to the scene.

The crash shut down a stretch of southbound I-5. All southbound lanes, south of Las Pulgas Road, were blocked due to the crash, according to Caltrans. A SigAlert was issued for the area.

Traffic was detoured to the Las Pulgas Road off-ramp then back on northbound I-5, Caltrans said.
