FINtastic Day With FIN Whales Sighting By Oceanside Adventures

A recent Oceanside Adventures Whale Watching Cruise spotted Fin whales known as the "greyhounds of the sea" just a few miles offshore. VIDEO

OCEANSIDE, CA — Oceanside Adventures recently captured amazing photos and a drone video of FIN whales off the coast of Oceanside on one of their aptly named whale-watching cruises.

"FINtastic day today with FIN whales on all three trips today! Fin whales are the 2nd largest animal on the planet and also the fastest swimming whale, hence their nickname "greyhounds of the sea" as they can get up to 30kts per hour. We spotted them only 3-4 miles off Oceanside harbor. Our boat is 50 ft and for comparison, these whales get to be 70-80 ft! Rarely do they breach or show their flukes, just their massive size is impressive enough!"

Oceanside Adventures offers year-round whale and dolphin tours. Currently, the gray whales are migrating from December through April. We also see Fin whales and minke whales year-round. In summertime, we see the humpbacks and blue whales and we have 4 species of dolphins, so there is always something to see no matter what time of the year you go.
