Fire Damages Oceanside Restaurant

Crews were dispatched after a patrol officer spotted flames at Alfredo's Mexican Restaurant, officials said.

OCEANSIDE, CA — Firefighters battled a restaurant fire Wednesday in Oceanside, authorities said.

Crews were dispatched at about 4:05 a.m. after a patrol officer with the Oceanside Police Department spotted flames at Alfredo's Mexican Restaurant at 602 N. Coast Highway, according to the Oceanside Fire Department.

Crews found the building heavily involved in fire and discovered a broken gas line near the front entrance, officials said. Firefighters knocked down the blaze in about 40 minutes and stopped the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.

The restaurant was closed at the time of the fire and no one was inside the building. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
