Firefighters Revive Dog After Los Angeles Drive House Blaze Injures Resident

A fire of unknown origin spread through a home in Vista Thursday afternoon, leaving a woman injured and causing extensive property damage.

VISTA, CA - A fire of unknown origin spread through a home in Vista Thursday afternoon, leaving a woman injured and causing extensive damage to the single-story structure.

The blaze in the 500 block of West Los Angeles Drive erupted shortly before 4 p.m., city Deputy Fire Chief Ned Vander Pol said.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to extinguish the flames. Medics took a resident to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries she suffered after re-entering her burning home to rescue her dog, Vander Pol said.

Emergency crews used CPR and administered oxygen to revive the animal, which was unconscious when removed from the residence.

"He perked right up," Vander Pol said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
