1. First Lady Jill Biden will visit the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic in Oceanside during her visit to the San Diego region this week. Biden's plans while in our area include speaking at a gathering on board the USS Gabrielle Giffords at Naval Base San Diego on Saturday. Next, she will visit Oceanside to talk with military families about their experiences with the Cohen Clinic since it opened last year. For her last stop in the Golden State, she heads to LA for the Grammys on Sunday. (Patch)
2. Looking for an authentic spot to celebrate Mardi Gras? Look no further than downtown Oceanside for the Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar. On the ground floor of the historic Brick Hotel and just blocks from the beach, Q&A quickly became a local favorite for NOLA-inspired Creole cuisine. Chef Quinton Austin brought his love for New Orleans food with original dishes like Uptown Gumbo and Crawfish Garlic Wings, but it's the oysters that keep 'em coming back for more. 3. North County Transit District (NCTD) is offering free rides on Saturday for "Transit Equity Day." The day honors Rosa Parks' birthday and "highlights the need to ensure equitable access to public transportation," said Matthew O. Tucker, NCTD executive director. The free rides apply to all Oceanside public transportation including COASTER, BREEZE, SPRINTER, FLEX and LIFT, on February 4. (Patch)
