Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Foster kids leaving the system in San Diego County will get extra help, because $2.7 million in state funding was approved at Tuesday's county supervisors meeting. The program will help around 100 young people who leave foster care in our area to pay for housing and "wraparound" services, according to the county. High living costs in the San Diego region were a factor in the funding increase. "Each foster youth will receive $3,710 per month, a $900 increase, and access to dental, medical and mental health care." (Patch)
  2. Get ready for San Diego Museum Month. Throughout the month of February, get 50% off admission to more than 60 San Diego County museums, historic sites, gardens, zoo/aquariums and more. Starting today, you can drop by the Oceanside Public Library for a free Museum Month Pass. Participating Oceanside museums include the California Surf Museum and Mission San Luis Rey. (San Diego Museum Council)
  3. The housing market in the Oceanside-Camp Pendleton area continues to be robust, with homes ranging from as low as $244,000 to over $1,350,000. Check out this week's Open House listings. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  4. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is giving away Harm Reduction Kits, for use in case of an overdose emergency, for free with no questions asked. The kits consist of a box of naloxone, containing two doses of the lifesaving nasal spray. "Brochures in English and Spanish provide instructions on how to use Naloxone. You can also scan a QR Code in the brochure with your cell phone to watch an instructional video." You can pick up a kit at any Sheriff's Department Station and Substation. (Press Release Desk)
