Get Ready To Spring Forward Oceanside. Why Do We Still Do That?

The biannual reminder to change your clocks is upon us again. But why are we still doing that when 60% of Californians voted it out in 2018?

OCEANSIDE, CA — In case you haven't heard yet, it's time to spring forward on Sunday. Officially, daylight saving time 2022 in California will begin at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 13.

But why are we still having to go through this ritual twice a year? Many Californians remember that Proposition 7 was approved by nearly 60 percent of voters in 2018. The ballot measure supported allowing the California State Legislature to change the dates and times of the daylight saving time period.

So why are we still springing forward and falling back every year? Why are Arizona and Hawaii the only states that do not change their clocks? How did this whole daylight-saving time thing come about anyway?

Only time will tell if the U.S. Congress will ever pass a law to make daylight saving time permanent, but it's unlikely to happen any time soon. For now, just keep changing those clocks!
