- Local officials were on hand for the groundbreaking of a new affordable housing project in Oceanside yesterday. Greenbrier Village will be a 60-unit apartment community on Greenbrier Drive between Apple Street and Oceanside Boulevard. The first-of-its-kind community will provide longterm housing to homeless, veterans and low-income residents, and offer them on-site mental and health services. Mayor Esther Sanchez and Supervisor Jim Desmond spoke about the impact the project will have on helping to alleviate homelessness in our area. (County News Center)
- Oceanside siblings Omar and Rachel Reyes are proving that running can be a team sport. The two El Camino High School students recently qualified for the 2022 California State Championship in Fresno. Older brother Omar is ranked as one of the best runners in the country while sister Rachel was the December CIF Athlete of the Month. "My sister and I, us going to state. Her going her freshman year and me my junior year. That's amazing," Omar said happily. "To be honest I was like really happy. It was a really big goal of mine one day to go to state," Rachel said.
