I don't think a lot of people realize that most of the original programming KOCT does around Oceanside is supported through fundraisers like this. How important is community support?

"Yes, it is vital to everything we do. We're trying to get out into the community even more, but that takes funding. It's important to have an unbiased and objective voice like KOCT that after 40 years continues to shine the light on our city and all the good stuff that is going on here. We want to be advocates out in the community and show everyone what an amazing place Oceanside really is."

I understand that as part of the KOCT Outback Steakhouse Fundraiser that you are encouraging people to sponsor military families?

"Yes. we are. It's always important for us to support the military. We realized many people may not be able to attend the fundraiser but want to show their support to KOCT, so we thought we'd include an option for people to sponsor local military and their families to have lunch. We just had one person purchase 13 tickets to sponsor our military neighbors and think that's just extraordinary and an example of how our community supports each other."
