Last Day To Register To Be In The Oceanside Independence Parade
Act now to participate or volunteer in the 24th Annual Oceanside Independence Parade on Saturday, June 30, 2018.
OCEANSIDE, CA - Join the more than 100 parade entries that are expected to march, roll, walk and drive down historic Highway 101 for this patriotic tradition that began in 1892. The theme for this year's parade is “Hometown Heroes”. Three Hometown Heroes will be recognized during this year’s Oceanside Independence Parade: the grand marshal, who will be former Mayor Jim Wood; the superintendent of the Oceanside Unified School District, Duane Coleman; and the manager of the City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Division, Eileen Turk.
The annual Independence Parade is organized by MainStreet Oceanside and this year is expected to be one of the largest with the biggest military turnout ever, including Marine and Navy Bands, Veteran's Groups,
Military vehicles and more.
"We are anticipating a jam-packed parade experience with this year’s theme," said Cathy Nykiel, Parade Committee chair for MainStreet Oceanside, the organizer of the parade. "Come out in
your best patriotic duds and wave your American flags as we pay tribute to our nation, our city and our local businesses along with Oceanside leaders who help make our community the best place to live.”
The parade will start at 10 a.m. at the intersection of North Coast Highway and Wisconsin Avenue and travel north on Coast Highway to Civic Center Drive. More than 100 parade entries are expected to march, roll, walk
and drive down historic Highway 101.
