Patch shares a few little-known facts about the popular local fishing destination, Oceanside Pier.
No fishing license is required to fish off the Oceanside Pier, and it is among the few along the San Diego coastline that is open 24 hours.
These are just a few of the little-known facts Patch learned on a recent quest to learn more about the popular local fishing destination.
The pier is a second home for Vista resident Ismael Andrade, who has been fishing off the pier since he was a young boy. He estimated he fishes at least 15 days out of the month, and most of the time comes away with a few croakers.

"Cooking them and eating them is the best part, especially if you've caught them yourself," Andrade said.
Run out of bait or tackle? Oceanside Pier Bait Shop is located conveniently on the pier and is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

"Come on out," said Jeff Port, a bait shop employee.
