Local Surf Instructor Helps Oceanside Boys & Girls Club Members Catch Waves
Instructor Heather Pine volunteered her time to teach the clubs' summer campers how to surf.

Oceanside, CA — Local surf instructor Heather Pine volunteered her time to provide surf lessons to Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside’s summer campers.
Pine visited the Club on June 27 to get campers excited about learning how to surf, and to give an overview on basic surf techniques and on June 30, BGCO campers and staff met her at the beach to put their lessons to the test.
Campers were ecstatic about the opportunity to have lessons from a professional surfer and were excited when they each stood up on the surfboard, said Emily Crisman, marketing and public relations coordinator for the Oceanside clubs.

Staff members enjoyed seeing the excitement the lessons generated among the campers.

"It was amazing to see the kids light up as they rode the waves in," said Maui, a staff member. "Heather was an incredible instructor; she engaged the kids, kept their attention, and successfully got each child to ride a wave."
