​Man Arrested In Vicious Stabbing Attack In Oceanside

A man was arrested this week on suspicion of stabbing a stranger last weekend in Oceanside, leaving her in critical condition, police said.

OCEANSIDE, CA— A man was arrested this week on suspicion of stabbing a stranger last weekend in Oceanside, leaving her in critical condition, authorities said.

Hunter Berger-Parks, 23, of Oceanside was arrested Thursday in connection with the stabbing attack a few blocks northeast of Libby Lake Park, Oceanside police spokesman Tom Bussey said.

Berger-Parks allegedly approached and attacked the 32-year-old victim around 8:25 p.m. last Saturday as she was walking along a sidewalk in a residential neighborhood in the 500 block of Roja Street, Bussey said.

"Initially it was believed by the hospital that the injuries were non-life threatening," Bussey said. "However, once she was in surgery it was found that the injuries were life-threating. She was viciously attacked and sustained multiple stab wounds."

The woman, who did not know her assailant, remains hospitalized in critical condition, he said.

Police found security video footage of Berger-Parks, Bussey said. He was arrested and booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of attempted murder.

Investigators have identified no suspected motive for the attack.
