Man In Wheelchair Fatally Struck By Sprinter Train In Vista

VISTA, CA — A man in a motorized wheelchair was fatally struck by a train Thursday morning in San Diego's North County, authorities said.

The deadly collision happened shortly after 9 a.m. on the tracks near the intersection of Main Street and South Santa Fe Avenue in Vista, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The man was hit by a westbound Sprinter train, sheriff's Sgt. Jason King said. He died at the scene.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the man and determine the cause and manner of his death, King said.
