Marine Casualty: Lance Cpl. Norberto Mendez Hernandez Killed in Afghanistan
The Camp Pendleton-based Marine was from Utah. He died Sunday.
A 22-year-old Camp Pendleton-based Marine has died while fighting in Afghanistan's Helmand province, according to a Department of Defense press release.
Lance Cpl. Norberto Mendez Hernandez of Logan, UT, died Sunday in combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the Defense Department said.
Hernandez was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton.
