Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Gives $7 Million to Marine Children
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Announces $7 Million in Scholarships Awarded to Children of Marine and Navy Corpsmen in Camp Pendleton
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation recently announced it will award 2,300 scholarships, valued at nearly $7 million to the children of Marine and Navy Corpsmen for the upcoming 2015-2016 academic year. The Scholarship Foundation is the Nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children, and since 1962, the Foundation has provided $100 million in awards and over 35,000 scholarships.
According to the Foundation, more than 100,000 children of Marines will reach college age within the next decade, and as the cost of higher education continues to outpace the average military family’s income, thousands of children face the prospect of being priced out of an education.

“These students join a long line of scholarship recipients raised on Honor, Courage, and Commitment. They’re born leaders who go on to do great things on campuses and communities nationwide. They outpace national averages of achievement in nearly every category. They are the best investment we can make in America’s future,” said Margaret B. Davis, President and CEO, Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
The record-setting total was announced on Thursday, July 30th at an awards ceremony for this year’s recipients at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. During the ceremony, attendees and donors celebrated the achievements of a new class of scholars, while addressing the challenges these scholarships help Marine families overcome.
