- Oceanside residents got a surprise Christmas visitor when a man suspected of driving under the influence flipped his truck into their backyard Sunday night. Video showed the Dodge Ram truck down an embankment, resting on its roof." (CBS News 8)
- Oceanside is one of three transit centers across San Diego County where Customs and Border Protection (CBP) dropped off dozens of migrants on Friday. Local officials like Supervisor Jim Desmond blame the expiration of the federal government's Title 42 program for the influx of asylum seekers. Jennifer Atenza, spokesperson for the Oceanside Police Department confirmed, "'The city of Oceanside and the Oceanside Police Department were made aware of approximately 69 individuals would be dropped off at Oceanside's Rancho Del Oro Transit Center,' Atenza stated. 'CBP indicated that these individuals are prescreened, and should have destinations they are supposed to be going to.' " (NBC 7 San Diego)
- San Diego county health officials are urging people to get vaccinated. "COVID-19 and the flu are circulating at high levels this winter and vaccinations for both are widely available at local pharmacies and medical providers.
