MiraCosta College Ranked as a Military-Friendly Campus
Being in close proximity with Camp Pendleton, Mira Costa College offers Marines and other service members a plethora of options whether they are seeking college credits or job training.

Offering multiple programs that cater to Marines and other service members who are seeking further education or careers after leaving the military, Mira Costa College was once again ranked for the second consecutive year as one of the nation's top military-friendly campuses by G.I. Jobs Magazine.
“We’ve put together programs that Marines would like to transfer into once they become civilians and we try and make it really easy for them to get funding, entry and a successful exit from the program,” said Linda Kurokawa, director of community services and business development.
Some of the programs the college offers for service members who are opting to go the quicker route back to civilian duties include armed security and protection services, a veteran sustainable agriculture program and a scuba dive master program.

“We added our armed security and started up the veteran sustainable agriculture from demand alone," Kurokawa said. “We listen to the needs of our military and decide what we can do to meet those skills in a work skills program and get them in, trained and get them out.”
For those seeking college credits, Mira Costa is also a full-time campus where service members get transferable credits.

“It’s a great opportunity to go back to school, and the veterans program takes care of us,” said retired Marine Sgt. Brendan Bass who served with 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Kilo Company. “I really enjoy it here.”
