Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Oceanside Crash

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, officials said.

OCEANSIDE, CA – A motorcyclist who investigators believe may have been intoxicated was seriously injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into electrical boxes off a road in Oceanside, police said Wednesday.

Dispatchers received reports around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday of a crash involving a motorcycle in the 800 block of Douglas Drive near the Oceanside Golf Course, Oceanside police Sgt. Rick Davis said.

A 25-year-old man was riding a motorcycle northbound at a high speed on Douglas Drive with another motorcyclist when the victim failed to turn at a bend in the roadway, crossed the southbound lanes of Douglas Drive and collided with electrical boxes off the road, Davis said.

The second motorcyclist stopped along with other witnesses and rendered aid to the victim, Davis said.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to a hospital with serious injuries, Davis said.
