Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

1. Heads up, Oceanside! Both the Oceanside Morning Farmers Market and the Sunset Market are canceled due to heavy rain predicted for today, January 5. (MainStreet Oceanside)
2. Feeling itchy? Apparently, North County is under attack from lice infestations, and officials issued a warning and recommend people check their scalps, especially children. Signs include small white eggs and actual crawling lice (ewww gross). Karen Sokoloff, the owner of licedoctors.com, said, "the spike in lice infestations has been reported in places like Oceanside, Escondido, Encinitas, Vista and Carlsbad." (FOX 5 San Diego)
3. Looking for some relaxing "me" time for the New Year? Our area is brimming with places to get pampered, but how do you know which is the best for you? Just peruse the newly released "Ultimate San Diego Spa Guide, 2023." You can find several in North County, including right here in Oceanside. Sunny's Spa and Beauty Lounge at The Seabird Resort is rated as "Beachy and fun." 4. A North County man was charged with bank robbery for the December 21 heist of a US Bank in Carlsbad. The twist is, he was out on bail while awaiting sentencing for a different federal crime when he allegedly held up the bank for less than $2,000. In the federal case, he pleaded guilty to "lying to federal investigators by claiming to be a former U.S. Treasury Department employee" and offering to sell classified information to the Russians.
