  1. The Oceanside economic development news for February includes construction updates for the Freeman Collective and Arena Califino. Plus, the latest on recently opened businesses like The Lab Collaborative, Vigilante Coffee Company and Verve Studio. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. There's now a way to access at-home COVID-19 tests for free and get reimbursed for those already purchased. The website, COVIDTests.gov, allows people to order four at-home tests per residence and have them mailed. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  3. The former San Diego Charger Junior Seau's older brother Savaii Seau was killed in a head-on collision. Savaii Seau of El Cajon was heading north on Los Coches Road near Lakeview Road in the Glenview area Tuesday afternoon when his Audi drifted into the path of a southbound Helix Water District dump truck being driven by a 60-year-old San Diego man, according to the California Highway Patrol.(KUSI)
  4. San Diego County will be strongly represented at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. One of bobsledding's biggest names, Elana Meyers Taylor, was born in Oceanside, a city that doesn't get much snow. It's very likely it will be the last Olympics for Carlsbad native Shaun White, the halfpipe snowboarder says. (NBC 7 San Diego)
  5. The Oceanside City Council recently approved a controversial eight-story, mixed-use studio apartment and hotel project despite a lack of enthusiasm from elected officials and residents. The project will take over an unused parking lot at the northwest corner of Seagaze and North Nevada Street in downtown Oceanside. (Coast News)
