Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Get ready for reduced lanes, roundabouts and other "road diet" changes coming to Coast Highway. The Oceanside City Council approved design plans for a segment of the Coast Highway Corridor Project, and awarded a $2 million contract to San Diego consulting firm Kimley Horn and Associates. The design process for the one-mile stretch between SR-76 and Wisconsin Avenue is expected to begin this spring and last about 18 months. The longterm goal is to complete the entire stretch of Coast Highway through Oceanside. (Coast News)
  2. The Oceanside International Film Festival (OIFF) returns next week to the historic Brooks Theatre in downtown Oceanside. The festival runs through Saturday, February 25, and culminates with the 2023 Oceanside International Film Festival Award Ceremony at 8:00 pm. The nominees for Best Picture (Short or Feature) include "An Island Drifts," "Jack Has A Plan," "The Manliest Man," "One Lost Many Found" and "Sweet Adventure." For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the Oceanside International Film Festival.
  3. MiraCosta College in Oceanside has two new Study Abroad Programs lined up for this summer. Students can choose between a month-long stay in either Sámara, Costa Rica or Florence, Italy. While the program is designed to "enrich students' multicultural awareness," it also includes college credit classes such as Elementary Spanish and History of Western Architecture. However, the biggest draw is more likely activities like a kayaking and snorkeling trip in Costa Rica or full-day excursions to Venice, Bologna, and Siena in Italy. Scholarships are available to help defray costs. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
