Oceanside Brush Fire Breaks Out Near Wala Drive: PHOTOS
Oceanside firefighters have contained the #WalaFire as of 4:16 P.M. Update from Oceanside Police Department.

OCEANSIDE, CA — A brush fire broke out early on Sunday afternoon in Oceanside with firefighters on the ground and in the air.
4:16 P.M. UPDATE: Fire is contained. OFD and additional resources continue to work on mitigating #WalaFire.

Residents in the 300 block of Rimhurst Court, all of Wala Drive and the 300 block of Shadowtree in Oceanside are being asked to evacuate out of an abundance of caution, as firefighters battle a brush fire northwest of 800 Wala Drive.

Oceanside firefighters and police department officers were called to the scene of the wildfire shortly before 1 p.m., the Oceanside Police Department said in an alert. "Expect some road closures for Fire trucks and equipment," the Oceanside Police Department said in its alert notification.
An evacuation center has been set up at El Camino High School for residents in need, OPD said.

It wasn't immediately clear how much vegetation is burning. A massive plume of black smoke quickly blanketed the area and could be seen for miles around.
Air crews were continuing to drop fire retardent at 2:00 p.m with little sign of containment.
