Happy Monday Oceanside! Let's get this week started off right, with a quick review of the most important things happening around town.

First, today's weather:

May gray clouds are expected to give way to the sun by the afternoon. High: 68 Low: 56.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. KOCT recently interviewed each of the candidates running for the 49th Congressional District for the North County Roundtable Election 2022 Edition. In this third episode, host Alison St John interviews 49th Congressional District Candidate Brian Maryott. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. Fresh off her 'Julia Child Challenge' win, Oceanside home chef Jaíne Mackievicz-Cenci, wants to teach Americans about Brazilian cuisine. The Oceanside resident said she was about 7 years old when she first saw Child cooking spaghetti on a "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" episode on Brazilian TV. Now, thanks to the Food Network and her own kitchen prowess, Mackievicz-Cenci is the winner of Food Network's "Julia Child Challenge" cooking competition show, and her prize is a three-month, all-expense-paid scholarship to Le Cordon Bleu, the Parisian culinary school where Child had learned to cook. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
  3. Oorah! Camp Pendleton Marines were out and about early Saturday to help some critters in need. Twenty-nine pallets of pet food that arrived at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas early Wednesday were distributed to nonprofit pet rescues starting at 9 a.m. The Marines helped load the cat and dog food. (San Diego Patch)
  4. The MiraCosta Community College District's Board of Trustees has announced that it will accept letters of interest to fill a board vacancy created by Dr. David Broad's resignation.
The resignation takes effect May 31. Broad's term ends in November. Applicants must be registered to vote and must reside in college Trustee Area 6, which includes the northwest portion of Oceanside. (Times of San Diego)
  5. Took a break from the news this weekend? Not to worry, we've rounded up some of the stories you missed in SoCal on Saturday and Sunday. But before we jump into the Golden State's top stories, Southland residents should know that another deadly shooting unfolded over the weekend, with gunfire striking nine people and one fatally. (Los Angeles Patch)
