OCEANSIDE, CA — The Oceanside Fire Department will be conducting wildland training burns starting May 10 and continuing for several days through the end of May. All of the burns will be north of Hwy 76.

Citizens may see smoke from these training fires, but Fire Department personnel will be on scene doing the ignition and extinguishment. These burns are conducted both to provide training to firefighters in advance of the upcoming wildland fire season, and also to remove non-native grasses from areas. In the event that a citizen sees a fire with no fire department personnel present or one that is south of Hwy 76, they are asked to call 911 immediately.

For questions relating to the training fires, please call the Fire Department at (760) 435-4101, or email firestaff@ci.oceanside.ca.us.
