Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:
- The annual Oceanside harbor dredging for 2022 is well underway and the city has released several progress updates. As of Tuesday, May 3, approximately 133,000 cubic yards of sand have been deposited on City beaches. Grunion monitoring has found a high volume on our beaches. Additionally, large 15-foot swells are anticipated today. The dredge pipe located under the pier will be removed in anticipation of the large swells in order to protect the public and the pilings supporting the pier. Manson Construction still anticipates dredging 250,000 cubic yards of sand during this dredge cycle. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- Two men and a woman were arrested Saturday in connection with Wednesday's string of explosions in Vista, authorities said. Valentin Castaneda, 25, was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a destructive device near a church and on public streets, possessing material with intent to make explosives, exploding a device with intent to terrify, felony evading and child endangerment said Lt. David Buether of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Bomb/Arson Unit. (City News Service)
- For much of the past 36 years, Oceanside's famous "Top Gun" house has been boarded up and moved from place to place as the city's downtown waterfront exploded with growth.
But on Friday, the 135-year-old Victorian cottage that was featured in the 1986 Tom Cruise film "Top Gun," celebrated its new permanent home and occupant. Now situated in an oceanfront lot on the grounds of the year-old Mission Pacific Hotel, the Top Gun House is now home to HIGH-Pie, a nostalgic Americana-inspired pie shop. (The San Diego Union-Tribune) - It's an election year and the Registrar of Voters is seeking poll workers for the June 7 Gubernatorial Primary Election. According to the County of San Diego Communications Office, poll workers play an essential role in elections and can serve their community while earning $15 per hour. Vote centers are open throughout the county for an extended period before Election Day. Rather than a single day of service, poll workers are now needed to staff vote centers up to 11 days in the two weeks before Election Day. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- A man suspected of multiple stabbings at a home in the Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood was arrested Sunday on suspicion of killing two men and wounding a woman, authorities said.
A stabbing inside the home on Carlsbad Street near Innsdale Avenue was reported at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday and when San Diego Police Department officers arrived, they found three victims, Lt. Jud Campbell told OnScene TV, (San Diego Patch)

Dumpsters, recycling, e-waste recycling, and a non-profit re-use organization will be on site. Household hazardous waste will not be accepted.
