Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Oceanside is taking further steps to safeguard the city's investments after the controversies that arose this year with the city treasurer and treasury manager. "The San Diego-based firm Chandler Asset Management has been chosen to assume responsibilities for Oceanside's $450 million investment portfolio. If approved by the Oceanside City Council at its Dec. 21 meeting, the Chandler firm will take over the portfolio management duties formerly handled by Treasury Manager Steve Hodges, who resigned effective Nov. 1." (San Diego Union-Tribune)
  2. Musician and longtime Oceanside resident farmer Jason Mraz announced his first gig for 2023 and it's right here in North County. "The Grammy Award-winning San Diego singer-songwriter will perform March 18 at The Sound, the new $17 million concert venue at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Top San Diego troubadour Gregory Page, a longtime Mraz collaborator, will open the show. Mraz is only the third headliner announced so far to perform at 1,900-capacity The Sound." (Pacific San Diego)
  3. The Green Room Hotel in Oceanside was selected as one of the "15 Retro, Revamped California Inns for a Pitstop Along Your Road Trip Adventure." This adorable boutique hotel opened in South O' in 2021. Since then it's become a favorite of locals on staycation and visitors seeking a laid-back beach community experience. "Lean into the easygoing surfer vibe with on-site beach cruiser bikes and surfboards. The inn is located on Pacific Coast Highway, a fantastic spot for exploring a diverse lineup of restaurants, breweries, and an impressive nightlife scene. There's a luxurious, cedar-style hot tub in the common area, along with a communal fire pit and picnic tables which make for a great place to connect with fellow travelers and friends alike." (Thrillist)
