  1. Looking for holiday events in and around Oceanside? Coming up this week is the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony and Holiday Market in downtown Oceanside. Later in the month, you can catch the Parade of Lights at the Harbor and "Not Your Normal Nutcracker" at the Sunshine Brooks Theatre. It's going to be a festive season with a little something for everyone to enjoy. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. Covid-19 deaths increased more among younger people in San Diego County than other age groups during the second year of the pandemic, according to a new report. "People over 65 still made up the greatest number of Covid-19 deaths, but their share of the total went down by 10 percent. The share of middle-aged people who died with the virus went up 21 percent. And those under 45 who died with the virus spiked by 144 percent." Other findings from the report show the benefit of vaccinations during year two. (Patch)
  3. Officer Tony Zeppetella was killed during a traffic stop on June 13, 2003. The California Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence for the man convicted of shooting him at least 13 times. "The jury found two special circumstance allegations true, that Adrian George Camacho killed a police officer and that he did so to escape arrest. Zeppetella is one of four Oceanside police officers killed in the line of duty." (KUSI)
