Here are the top five stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:
- The Plot brings Thursday Night Live Music Series to Oceanside this summer. The plant-based oasis, The Plot, recently introduced its Thursday night live music series. Every Thursday from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., guests can enjoy an evening of free live music on The Plot's patio, surrounded by the restaurant's regenerative garden. (There San Diego)
- The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Thursday for the 36th consecutive day, decreasing 3.4 cents to $5.787, its lowest amount since May 2. The average price has decreased 58.6 cents during the streak, including 2.9 cents Wednesday, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The streak of decreases follows a run of 19 increases in 20 days totaling 35.5 cents. The average price is 18.8 cents less than one week ago and 53.7 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.478 more than one year ago. (San Diego Patch)
- The Vindys will be making their first West Coast trip this month with the first show in Oceanside followed by shows in San Francisco and Hollywood, as well as a gig in Carson City, Nevada. Music industry types are expected to be present. (Canton Repository)
- Drug use is at a 22-year high for men arrested in the San Diego region, while female arrestees are testing positive for drugs at the lowest rate in 14 years, according to a report released Thursday by the San Diego Association of Governments. SANDAG's findings were based on a random sampling of detainees interviewed last year at the San Diego Central Jail and the Las Colinas Detention Facility, as part of SANDAG's Substance Abuse Monitoring program examining drug trends among local offenders. - San Diego Comic-Con has officially begun! Thursday marked the first day of the popular annual convention which runs through Sunday. Hosted at the San Diego Convention Center, Comic-Con has turned into a landmark event for more than just comic book fans. Comic-Con offers something for everyone.
