Oceanside Man Arrested After Fatal Neighborhood Fight

OCEANSIDE, CA — A man was arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal fight in an Oceanside neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers responded to a report of an altercation shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of Buffum Drive, according to the Oceanside Police Department.

When officers arrived, they initially contacted a suspect and then searched the surrounding area, where they found an unconscious man near a residence. Officers attempted lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The victim's identity was withheld pending family notification.

The suspect, later identified as Andrew Swan, 51, of Oceanside, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was booked into the San Diego County jail.
