- A winter storm warning with high winds is in effect for Oceanside and the entire region throughout the week. The National Weather Service in San Diego issued a "High Wind Warning for San Diego County Coastal areas" through tonight and extended through Saturday for inland and mountain regions. Residents are advised that winds are expected to reach 25 to 55 mph, with gusts as high as 95 mph, which may blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are also possible. - Oceanside residents feeling the pinch from rising energy bills can take advantage of SDG&E's new Residential Energy Solutions program, which is available for renters and owners of single-family homes, to help reduce energy costs. No income restrictions are needed to qualify, and participating customers will receive free products and services like smart thermostats, low-flow shower heads and air duct sealing. (KPBS)
- Oceanside Police are investigating a traffic collision that closed SR 76 and Benet Road on Monday night for several hours. According to officials, a motorcyclist was seriously injured after being struck by the driver of a vehicle. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital and his condition remains unknown. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The investigation is ongoing and OPD will provide updates as more information becomes available. (Oceanside Police via Facebook)
