📢 The Oceanside Chamber will hold its 14th Annual North County Health & Wellness Fair on August 11 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The North County Health Fair is free to the public and a great way to receive information, meet a new health specialist or learn more about healthy living. Located at the beautiful Oceanside Civic Center Plaza, the North County Health Fair will run concurrently with the Thursday Farmer's Market. More info


Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Oceanside Economic News for July 2022: Catch up on what's new in Oceanside for July! Cruise downtown in gO'side plus new restaurants, art galleries, martial arts studios and more. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. Longtime educator and Oceanside resident Raye Clendening has been named to the MiraCosta Community College District board of trustees. Clendening will represent Area 6, the northernmost portion of the MiraCosta College District, which includes north Oceanside. Clendening is serving as the chair of the MiraCosta College Foundation and was an inaugural member of the college's Independent Citizens Board Oversight Committee, which watched over the expenses of the voter-approved facilities bond.   3. Former Marine, Amy Forsythe's new book titled "Heroes Live Here: A Tribute to Camp Pendleton Marines Since 9/11" showcases the compelling stories of those who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and gave the ultimate sacrifice. "The book is a way to keep their names alive, inspire the next generation of young service members, to be proud of their service, inspire patriotism, but also honor those sacrifices," said Forsythe, who was first stationed at Camp Pendleton in 1995 as a Marine combat correspondent.   4. The winners of the 2022 Miss Oceanside Scholarships Pageant will serve as community ambassadors. Miss Teen Oceanside is Senna Zimmerman, 16, a junior at El Camino High School. Miss Oceanside is Rebeca Casanova, 18, a student at Mira Costa College. Teen Princesses include Lily Teta, Gabriella Kacanowski and Sabrina Zary. Miss Princesses include Andrea Barba, Emily Dikitanan and Arlette Martinez. The winners of the People's Choice Award were Hazel Engvall and Rebeca Casanova. Proceeds from the pageant, which was held recently at Star Theater in Oceanside, go to scholarships for the winners and proceeds from the People's Choice Award benefit the American Diabetes Association.   5. San Diego County kicks off the "Experience The Outdoors" Program, a new initiative to spread the word about County parks, teach people about the outdoors, share fun and promote equity, inclusion, accessibility and opportunity. The "Experience the Outdoors Program" will be an energetic, monthly drive with up to 75 free events scheduled through June 2023 — 37 through December — to increase public awareness of County regional parks and highlight activities and services available to everyone.
