Here are the top stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

  1. A teen suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle Monday night in an Oceanside parking lot on Harbor Drive. The 17-year-old boy had to be airlifted to a local hospital after police found him unresponsive. According to witnesses and evidence at the scene, the boy was hit by a 15-year-old male who fled, but was later located by Oceanside police. "Alcohol was a factor in the collision, police reported." The investigation is ongoing. (City of Oceanside)
  2. Train service north between Oceanside and Orange County is set to resume on weekends in February, nearly four months since it was suspended. Passenger trains were suspended when transportation officials noticed movement of the tracks through San Clemente and began emergency repairs to stabilize the tracks. "Repair work will continue during weekdays, with full service on the route expected to be restored by the end of March." (Times of San Diego)
  3. Wondering why there's a fence running the length of the Oceanside Pier? The city is making essential upgrades to water, sewer and electrical lines on the historic pier. Most of the $5.5 million needed is coming from the federal government's American Recovery Act funds, while the City of Oceanside will cover the remaining costs. "Just being in this harsh marine environment, the salt spray, the salt mist takes its toll on a lot of the metal components on the pier," said Nathan Mertz, Oceanside's Public Works Division Manager. The new upgrades are expected to be completed by fall. (NBC San Diego)
