Oceanside Police Investigate Shooting In San Luis Rey River Trail Area

Oceanside Police are investigating the shooting of a 26-yr old man that occurred Thursday morning in the San Luis Rey River Trail area.

OCEANSIDE, CA —The Oceanside police have opened an Assault With a Deadly Weapon Investigation after a Thursday morning shooting.

On Thursday, November 18, 2021, at approximately 4:30 am, Oceanside Police responded to a call of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound near the 400 Block of Parkside Drive. Oceanside Police responded and after an extensive search of the area, were unable to locate any evidence that a crime had occurred.

Then at approximately 7:00 am, Oceanside Police responded to a call of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound near the 400 Block of Woodpark Way. Officers arrived on the scene and found a 26-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound. Officers and paramedics rendered medical aid to the subject. The patient was then transported to a local area hospital for further treatment.

Based on preliminary information provided in the case thus far, the assault occurred in the San Luis Rey River Trail area. This case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
