'Peaceful' End to Police Search at Oceanside Motel
BREAKING: Rodeway Inn in Oceanside was partially evacuated when police searched for a suspected gunman.

OCEANSIDE, CA – An Oceanside motel was partially evacuated during a police standoff that ended peacefully Tuesday.
Oceanside police responded to a call of a shooting around 2:30 p.m. at Rodeway Inn on North Coast Highway in Oceanside. Police searched the motel, located at 1103 North Coast Highway, for a suspected gunman.
When the suspect retreated into a rental room, Lt. Taurino Valdovinos said officers evacuated surrounding rooms, closed off nearby traffic lanes and called in a SWAT team.

Negotiators contacted the man, whose name was not immediately available, by telephone and eventually convinced him to give himself up, Valdovinos said. Following a roughly 90-minute standoff, the incident was "resolved peacefully," police said, when the suspect came out of the building at about 4 p.m. and was taken into custody.
Valdovinos said it was unclear what led to the shooting. There are no reports of injuries.
