Oceanside Shock Unveiled As North County's New Pro Hockey Team

OCEANSIDE, CA — Frontwave Arena has unveiled the Oceanside Shock as the official name and logo of North County's new Federal Prospects Hockey League franchise, with the team set to begin play this October.

The announcement follows a three-month community campaign that invited residents to help choose the team's name and logo. The Shock's mascot is a jellyfish holding a hockey stick, a nod to Oceanside's coastal identity.

"From the overwhelming response to our 'Name the Team' campaign to unveiling our logo and schedule, we're building something that belongs to North County," said Phil Salvagio, co-founder of Frontwave Arena and owner of the franchise. "We can't wait to welcome fans into Frontwave Arena this October and begin creating lasting hockey traditions together."

The team's inaugural home game is scheduled for Oct. 10 against the Fresno Falcons at Frontwave Arena. The 2026-27 home schedule includes 28 games against opponents including the Fresno Falcons, Stockton Thunder, Minnesota Northern Lights, Topeka Scarecrows, Motor City Rockers, Twin City Thunderbirds and Port Huron Prowlers.

Head coach Craig Carlyle said the inaugural roster will feature a mix of veteran professionals and emerging players from across North America. Defensemen currently on the roster include Cade Hanley, Michael Greco, Lester Brown, Timofei Trifonov and Matt O'Dea. Listed forwards include Cole Crowder, Justin Jamer, Maximus Marek Tortorella, Bryan Gowin, Tyler Maxwell, James Spaargaren and Dyson Germann.

The Oceanside Shock will compete in the Federal Prospects Hockey League, which enters its 17th season this year. The franchise was announced earlier this year as the first professional hockey team to call Frontwave Arena home.

Season tickets and single-game tickets are now on sale through Frontwave Arena.
