Oceanside Small Businesses Support E-Fairness

Oceanside, CA – Small business owners in Oceanside and Dana Point rallied on Monday July 22nd, 2013 in support of the Marketplace Fairness Act and a study released by Dr. Art Laffer which supports the need for the bills passage. The event’s keynote speaker was Southern California Businessman Mr. Ed Manske who is the owner of Manske Properties based out of Riverside. Mr. Manske spoke to a crowd of 25 people in front of Semper Fi Florist, owned by Ali Vasggerdi in Oceanside, CA. Standing in front of signs demanding equal treatment of all businesses, Ed Manske applauded the Art Laffer study and implored the U.S. House of Representatives to pass H.B. 684 The Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013.

“Just look at many of our downtown's and Main Street’s and you’ll see that California has really struggled to recover from the economic downturn, and our employment figures are still not where they should be.  Dr. Laffer’s prescription for adding 180, 974 jobs should be a no-brainer. It’s time for Congress to close this loophole and give the states the ability to cut taxes across the board,” said Ed Manske, who owns Manske Properties with locations across California.

The Marketplace Fairness Act received a bipartisan vote in the U.S. Senate on May 6, 2013, and similar legislation is already pending in the House of Representatives with over 60 bipartisan cosponsors, including Rep. Judy Chu, Rep. Jared Huffman, Rep. Alan Lowenthal, Rep. Linda Sanchez, Rep. Loretta Sanchez and Rep. Jackie Speier from this state. Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin (R) and Former Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan have given conservative voices of support to the passage of the legislation. Oceanside resides in the CA-49th Congressional District, currently held by Darrel Issa (R).
