Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Firefighters from the Oceanside Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire that broke out in an unoccupied home on Lancer Avenue early Saturday morning. The fire started in the garage of the single-story house that was under renovation and by the time fire crews arrived the fire had extended into the home. "Firefighters cut holes in the roof to let the gases and smoke out of the structure. No firefighters were injured. Neighboring residents who had been evacuated were allowed back into their homes. The cause of the fire was under investigation." (10 News San Diego)
  2. The Oceanside Theatre Company is kicking off its season this weekend with "Lucky Stiff" at The Brooks Theatre. Lucky Stiff is an uplifting musical farce with songs from the creative team of Ragtime, Seussical, and Once On This Island and features Kenny Bordieri, Kelly Derouin, Bob Himlin, Olivia Pence, Audrey Ward, and OTC Artistic Director, Ted Leib. "We felt it was important to begin the year with a fun and funny musical that will remind our audiences of the joy that theater can bring," added Leib.
  3. The weekend storm brought torrential downpours and below-average temperatures throughout our area. For Oceansider's that are enjoying a break from all that rough weather, be prepared for another storm coming this week. Rain could return as early as this afternoon and continue off and on through midweek. We should get another break from the rain by Thursday but temps are expected to remain below average. (NBC 7 San Diego)
  4. Gas prices in Oceanside rose throughout February but are still below the county average which has increased 26 cents over the past 25 days. In San Diego County the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $4.84, the highest it has been since early December, but well below the record $6.43 on October 5, 2022. In Oceanside, gas prices can be found for as low as $4.25 per gallon, according to Gas Buddy. (Patch)
