  1. The campaign for CA-49, which includes Oceanside, is heating up in the final weeks of the election. Republican congressional candidate Brian Maryott is facing allegations of "not fulfilling a promise to amend his financial disclosures. ... This week, End Citizens United said it found no record of amended FEC filings. ... Maryott — challenging 49th District incumbent Rep. Mike Levin for a second time — had assailed ECU as a 'liberal activist group' but vowed to correct 'a handful of honest reporting mistakes' made before the campaign was in full swing." (Times of San Diego)
  2. If you were planning to take the COASTER to see the Padres' playoff game this weekend, you'll need to find another way. "This weekend, we have what is called an absolute work window along our coastal corridor which means we are closing the service to perform team maintenance and other projects along the corridor," said Chris Orlando, with North County Transit District. Travelers who still would like to take public transportation can take the NCTD Breeze Buses. "Breeze 101 runs along the coast highway so that is an option for folks as well as connecting with the MTS trolley or buses," Orlando said. (Fox5 San Diego)
