Here are the top five stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

  1. The California Welcome Center Oceanside celebrated its recent renovation last week with an open house reception. The updated look reflects the surf-skate culture that is a defining characteristic of the Oceanside experience and draws so many visitors to our fair city.   2. On Friday, March 11 at about 8:30 PM, the Sheriff's Communication Center received a call of a shooting outside an apartment complex on Postal Way, in the city of Vista. When deputies arrived, they found a man in the parking lot who had been shot several times. Deputies immediately started life-saving measures. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. No other victims were found. (Press Release Desk)

Celebrated annually on March 14 (3.14), it's a day that returns us to math class with the reminder that the ratio of a circle's circumference to the diameter is 3.14, a number now represented with the Greek letter π. On Friday, March 11 at about 4:00 PM, the Sheriff's Communication Center received a call of a suspect who forced entry into a residence in the city of Vista near South Santa Fe and Mar Vista Drive. The homeowner was not home at the time, but saw via their Ring camera system, a man kick open the front door and enter their house. (Press Release Desk)
  5. Dog bites are costing California residents nearly $135,900,066 a year — more than any other state in the U.S., according to a new report. The findings from QuoteWizard used data sourced by the Insurance Information Institute to analyze where people might have to pay more insurance coverage because of their dog.
