Oceanside's New Arena Breaks Ground With San Diego Sockers
Oceanside City Council was on hand with players from San Diego Sockers for a groundbreaking ceremony at the new Arena Califino.
OCEANSIDE, CA —The pro-soccer team, the San Diego Sockers will soon be keeping their heart's in Oceanside. Members of the team were on hand last week at a breaking ground ceremony for the new arena to be located in the El Corazon (The Heart, in Spanish) development.
All 5 members of the Oceanside City Council were in attendance to officially launch construction of Arena Califino. The plans call for a multi-purpose sports arena and events facility to be situated within the “Village Commercial” District of the El Corazon property, adjacent to the El Corazon Aquatics Center.
The indoor sports arena is being built on 5 acres designated for commercial development at the eastern end of the property near Rancho Del Oro Drive. The arena with a large outdoor plaza is slated to be finished in time for the 2023 soccer season and will have an estimated 8,000-seat capacity.
