Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Oceanside
The 57-year-old man suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts by officers, police said.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway outside a marked crosswalk in Oceanside, authorities said Monday.
Officers responded around 10 p.m. Friday to the collision on Douglas Drive north of Rainier Way, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
Authorities said a Honda Civic traveling northbound with a green traffic signal struck the pedestrian as he attempted to cross eastbound north of the intersection.

The 57-year-old man suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts by officers.
The driver, a 28-year-old Oceanside resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors. The driver was evaluated and released pending further investigation.
