Pedestrian Killed, Driver Arrested In Hit-And-Run Crash In Oceanside
The hit-and-run driver was later found and taken into custody, police said.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A pedestrian was killed Thursday in a hit-and-run collision in Oceanside, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened around 5 a.m. near Mission Avenue, just east of Mesa Drive, according to the Oceanside Police Department. The 76-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later found the suspect's vehicle, a 2005 silver Toyota Tacoma, in the 200 block of Los Arbolitos. The driver, identified as a 24-year-old man from Oceanside, was detained and taken into custody.

The man, whose name was not released, is expected to be booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.
Police said investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
