Plane Crash Lands Near Oceanside Airport

A plane belonging to GoJump Skydiving crash-landed just short of the Oceanside Airport on Thursday afternoon.

OCEANSIDE, CA — A plane belonging to GoJump Skydiving crash-landed in a field just east of the Oceanside Airport on Thursday afternoon.

According to a statement from Jennifer Atenza, PIO of Oceanside Police, at approximately 12:46 pm a Cessna aircraft lost altitude just short of the Oceanside Municipal Airport at Foussat Rd and 76 HWY. Emergency responders were on the scene for several hours after the crash.

Two men were on board the single-engine Cessna 208B when it went down, one of whom had to be freed from the damaged aircraft, officials said. Both crash victims were transported to local hospitals. One patient was in critical condition and transported by air ambulance, the other was in moderate condition and taken by ground ambulance.

Skydiving company GoJump Oceanside confirmed to KGTV that the plane involved in the crash belongs to them. They did not release any further details regarding the incident.

The Federal Aviation Administration responded to the crash site. The National Transportation Safety Board will conduct the investigation into the crash.
